Labour weekend here at Kiwi Heritage Homestay was MAN OVERLOAD with a team of arborists who were working in the local area, my regular Australian weekend guest, new South African migrant back for the weekend and my Chinese (male) helper.
This weekend was busy with mainly women guests and lovely Spring weather to boot!
There were English girls visiting mountain biking parks in New Zealand (girls after my own heart! Woodhill this weekend). For more New Zealand Mountain Biking opportunities I recommended Hauraki Rail trail, Waikato River Trails and of course the fantastic Otago Central Rail Trail.
Also an Australian mother and daughter researching their family tree and tracing deceased descendants in New Zealand cemeteries, so off to Waikumete cemetery for them with a side visit to the Avondale Sunday Market; An Irish woman searching for longer term accommodation opportunities in the area and an English chap who took the opportunity to visit the wonderful Mercer Bay Loop in the nearby Waitakere Regional Park (he was not disappointed!). An American guest who took a day trip to Waiheke Island – also not disappointed. While I have a broken wrist on the mend, I also have helpers – my current helper being a lovely Japanese girl.
There was a power cut last night, so we were all able to watch the fireworks from the lounge and dining windows, then off to bed for an early night with our candles.
Woke up this morning to power restored and rain. Luckily, weather is set to improve Wednesday.
