Vintage shops in West Auckland

Cacnisters for sugar, rice and tea with very nice paintings of ladies from around the world

Cannisters

I discovered a new Vintage Shop in Glen Eden the other day when driving back from the wonderful Piha Beach.- The Fabulist, at 547 West Coast Rd. Bought some cool food canisters for a reasonable price. There are lots of vintage, retro and antique items to peruse and there is always new stock coming in.

Made me realise there are quite a few interesting Vintage Shops in the local area as well as a few Charity Shops – Salvation Army, Hospice Shop to name just a couple. Always worth visiting these shops, not only to purchase a bargain, but to support them for the wonderful work they do in the local community.

But for Vintage Shopping, I recommend Deco 2 Retro which is just a short walk around the corner from Kiwi Heritage Homestay in Tomo St (next to the very popular and always busy Humbug Cafe).

Avondale Markets (every Sunday morning and Titirangi Markets (last Sunday of every month) are also well worth a visit..

Just Plane Interesting is at 100 Parrs Cross Rd in Oratia which is just a 10 minute drive from here. If you go on a Saturday morning, you can grab some wholesome goodies from the Oratia Farmers Market and. The Packing Shed serves some yummy meals as well. Or if you’re into a post midday tipple, I recommend a $5 tasting from Artisan Wines, which you will get free if you purchase a bottle of wine (some of which are certified organic) from their cellar. These guys also do lovely meals.

Ooops I have moved away from Vintage to stomach… that can be a post for another time.
